SVCF encourages nonprofit organizations to read the three new Requests for Proposals that opened March 13 for these strategies: building strong communities, economic security and immigration. Applications for all three grant opportunities are due April 7.
Building Strong Communities
SVCF’s building strong communities strategy connects jobs, housing and transportation into action plans that dictate how our region grows and prospers. To successfully align policies within these respective fields, we encourage transformative thinking and action through meaningful resident participation in land use and transportation planning processes.

This financial education sub-strategy of our economic security work seeks to help individuals and families achieve and maintain greater economic security by increasing access to high-quality financial education and counseling, affordable and appropriate financial products and services, and tangible incentives for repairing credit, saving for the future and building wealth.
By taking a behavioral economics approach, the sub-strategy aims to help individuals adopt positive financial behaviors and begin moving along a path toward greater economic stability.
Information session: March 22, 10-11 a.m. - RSVP
As part of our immigration strategy, SVCF believes access to affordable and reliable immigration legal services provided will enable large numbers of immigrants to obtain legal status that can lead to citizenship, better jobs, family unifi cation, health care, increased educational opportunities for children and adults, and fuller participation in community life – the building blocks of strong communities and healthy societies.
To address these issues, funding will be provided for legal service collaboratives that formalize information sharing, networking and legal relationships across and within San Mateo and Santa Clara counties; of particular interest to SVCF is the use of new technology that helps further resource-sharing and capacity-building among legal service providers.
