Since making our first grants in late 2008, SVCF has awarded more than $90 million to over 500 local nonprofit organizations through our discretionary grantmaking program. As we embark on our 10-year anniversary, we are proud to announce a special $1 million, competitive grantmaking initiative that will award 10 grants of up to $100,000 each to deserving organizations doing the most innovative and effective work to make our region a better place.
Two grants will be awarded to projects within each of our existing strategy areas: Building Strong Communities, Economic Security, Education, and Immigration.
- Building Strong Communities – Involving residents in the design of their communities
- Economic Security – Growing opportunities to save, invest and protect family wealth
- Education – Preparing middle school students to succeed in college and career
- Immigration – Recognizing immigrants as assets in our region
Two additional grants will be awarded to general projects increasing civic engagement and participation through creative and innovative uses of technology.

Two grant awards will be announced October 2017
This grant opportunity supports ideas that harness new technologies and methods to overcome the barriers to civic participation and spur increased individual engagement in the wide range of civic activities that keep our democracy strong, from volunteerism to organizational involvement to electoral participation.
We encourage applicants to imagine what might be possible, share one of their new and innovative ideas with us, and explain how SVCF funds could help them apply that idea.
